Molecular Evolution of GII-4 Norovirus Strains

BACKGROUND Human Noroviruses (NoV) are the major cause of acute nonbacterial gastroenteritis and the leading cause of outbreaks of gastroenteritis worldwide. Genotype II-4 (GII-4) NoV has been shown to spread rapidly and is the most commonly detected strain worldwide, particularly in association with outbreaks. Previously, we have shown that circulating GII-4 NoV strains exist as populations of...

Norovirus GII.4 Strains and Outbreaks, Australia

1128 Emerging Infectious Diseases • www.cdc.gov/eid • Vol. 13, No. 7, July 2007 Failure to report poultry deaths should be addressed and has several possible explanations. Farmers are accustomed to common yearly poultry deaths, which are not reported. In the absence of an offi cial compensation statement, farmers may fear income loss from massive poultry culling. Our results emphasize the need ...

Molecular characterization of norovirus GII strains identified in Albania.

Noroviruses (NoVs) are considered as the leading cause of diarrheal diseases in all groups of age. In the last decade the number of NoV outbreaks worldwide is increasing. Data published by the systems of NoV surveillance show the GII.4 strain as the human predominant genotype circulating worldwide and new genetic variants of GII.4 were associated with epidemic events. In Albania the economy tra...

Norovirus GII.17 Natural Infections in Rhesus Monkeys, China

Noroviruses are a leading viral cause of acute gastroenteritis among humans. During the 2014-15 epidemic season, norovirus GII.17 was detected in rhesus monkeys in China. Genetic, structural, and challenge studies revealed virus mutations and verified the infections. Thus, cross-species transmission may occur, and monkeys may be a virus reservoir.

Phylogeny and Immunoreactivity of Norovirus GII . P 16 - GII . 2

N is a major cause of acute gastroenteritis in humans and is genetically classified into 7 genogroups (GI–GVII). Among them, norovirus GI, GII, and GIV infect humans, and human norovirus (HuNoV) has many genotypes (1). GII viruses are common and have 22 confirmed genotypes (1). In Infectious Diseases Weekly Report (https://www. niid.go.jp/niid/en/idwr-e.html), the Japanese national surveillance...
